Small Space, Big Harvest
A 30-minute talk for the Malayali community in Munich on growing red amaranth (cheera) in a German balcony garden. Everyone received a packet of seeds saved from our Stuttgart garden, and we talked about the Tiny Harvest Club launching in March 2026.
“I recently attended a gardening workshop led by Aparna, and it was truly inspiring. She shared practical, easy-to-follow guidance on growing crops in Munich’s climate, which made gardening feel much more approachable. What surprised me the most was learning that even Indian vegetables can be successfully grown here. As someone who deeply misses those flavors, this was incredibly exciting! Aparna also generously gifted us cheera (amaranth) seeds. I sowed them soon after, and they have already germinated beautifully. Watching them grow has been such a joyful and rewarding experience. I’m really grateful for the knowledge and encouragement I gained from this workshop. I would highly recommend Aparna to anyone interested in gardening—whether you’re a beginner or looking to grow something unique.”

“The session was really good with carefully made presentation giving a rough idea of when to plan seedlings and when to harvest especially in this weather of Germany. Got samples of seeds as well.”

“I really enjoyed the gardening session with Aparna, it was engaging, practical, and easy to follow. I’ve always struggled to get started with vegetable gardening in Germany and never really had a clear idea of how to begin. Seeing Aparna’s garden was truly motivating, and it inspired me to not let my own garden sit idle this summer. I’ve already started putting some of her suggestions into practice, and I’m really looking forward to spending the summer in a garden filled with my own homegrown vegetables.”
